ANTH S258 “Introduction to Environmental Anthropology” now being offered for University Summer Session A

Examining how humans live in, and understand, their environment, the course will introduce anthropological approaches to ecological and environmental issues. 
A particular attention will be devoted to:
  • Issues of environmental justice, including those studied in the field of development and conservation;
  • The study of disasters, including climate change and water-related dystopias
  • The study of environmental knowledge and technologies
Students will also learn about methods, conduct a short fieldwork and write their first ethnography. 
This course may serve as a good introduction for courses on environmental anthropology, cultural ecology, political ecology,  anthropology of disaster, environmental justice, anthropology of development and conservation.
