May 21, 2020
The Social Sciences Research Council’s “Covid-19 and the Social Sciences” blog series has published an essay on “Resuming Field Research in Pandemic Times,” coauthored by Professors Douglas Rogers and K. Sivaramakrishnan from Yale Anthropology, along with Professors Elisabeth Wood (Political Science) and Rene Almeling (Sociology). The essay outlines some of the ethical and logistical challenges to re-starting fieldwork, and suggests some mechanisms for including appropriate faculty expertise in deciding when and how field research can resume.
