Audrey Tjahjadi, PhD candidate in the Tucci lab, received the Young Investigator’s Travel award from the Society for Molecular Biology & Evolution to attend their annual meeting in Beijing (China). She presented a poster titled “Genome-wide patterns of runs of homozygosity in Near Oceanic populations”. For this project, she analyzed genomic data from a range of Oceanic populations to investigate how the complex population history of the region, including demographic events like multiple bottlenecks and migrations, has affected levels of homozygosity and genetic diversity in the populations living there today.
