Professor Serena Tucci, Associate Research Scientist Patrick Reilly, Postdoctoral Associates Chang Liu and Daniela Tejada-Martinez, and Bioanthro graduate students Audrey Tjahjadi and Samantha Miller published a research article on the genetic history and adaptation of populations in Oceania in the prestigious journal Science.
Their study revealed a complex population history and evidence that DNA inherited from extinct hominins continues to influence human biology today. Their work provides one of the most detailed and comprehensive analyses to date of human genetic variation in Oceania, filling a major gap in representation in genomics research.
