Congratulations to Assistant Professor of History and Department of Anthropology affiliate Nana Osei Quarshie, whose book African Pharmakon: The Asylum as Shrine from Slavery to the Return was shortlisted for the Elliott P Skinner Award of the Association of Africanist Anthropology.
The winner of the Skinner Book Prize will be announced at a ceremony on Friday November 20th, 2026, taking place at the Association for Africanist Anthropology (AfAA)’s annual meeting. The AfAA meeting is part of this year’s American Anthropological Association Annual Conference in St. Louis, MO.
African Pharmakon has already won the 2026 Cheiron Book Prize from the International Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
