Jessica Thompson, Alex Bertacchi, and Hannah Keller publish chapter on the zooarchaeology of Pleistocene Africa
Jessica Thompson and PhD candidates Alex Bertacchi and Hannah Keller recently published a chapter in Handbook of Pleistocene Africa, a muti-volume reference for Stone Age archaeological discoveries, methodological advancements, and theoretical frameworks of Africa. Their contribution, along with two co-authors, synthesizes the zooarchaeological record of the continent. To perform this analysis, they compiled data on all zooarchaeological assemblages from every published site, allowing them to assess temporal and spatial trends in research and how these contribute to our understanding of hominin behavior.
