Professor Richard Burger and Lucy Salazar honored by the Peruvian government

In Lima in December 2024, Richard L. Burger and Lucy Salazar were honored by the Peruvian congress for their exceptional and dedicated contributions to Peruvian history and culture. Peruvian congressman Guido Bellido, a native Quechua speaker, former Prime Minister and current congressman representing Cuzco, presented each with a medal and certificate memorializing their contributions to our understanding of the Andean world. Richard and Lucy then gave talks about their work to the auditorium full of archaeologists and archaeology students, and the ceremony also featured authentic Andean music.
