Eric Sargis' research offers insights into mammals’ evolutionary trajectory after non-avian dinosaur extinction

New research, coauthored by Eric Sargis, provides insights into the evolutionary relationships of mammals’ after the non-avian dinosaur extinction. The study assessed the most complete skeleton of Mixodectes pungens, a species of small mammal that inhabited western North America in the early Paleocene, known to exist. They found that this species of mammal is closely related to primates and flying lemurs, making them close relatives of Humans.
