The unprecedented amount of information generated by large biobanks and research consortia has revolutionized the study of human traits and diseases. Dr. Polimanti will provide an overview of the challenges and opportunities for applying Big Data Analytics to translate genetic findings into a deeper understanding of the biology and epidemiology of complex phenotypes. Specifically, modeling of human genetic diversity, phenotype definitions, and multi-omics regulation will be discussed using a genome-wide association study of anxiety disorder as an example. Finally, an application of polygenic risk scoring to investigate assortative mating will be described in the context of behavioral and psychiatric traits.
